My Laptop

Nowadays, many brands of laptop are not reliable and durable. Once you bought, you only could use for two years without having too much problems , crashes or broken down.

I had bought a laptop which is Acer branded, model Aspire 5590 in 5th January 2007. On that time, this laptop had the highest specs but quite cheap compared to the others brands such as fujitsu, toshiba, asus, etc. So i bought it at RM4800 plus with RM400 for adding up 1GB RAM to make it 2GB. I also added 3 years warranty for RM200. So, the total price was RM5400.

What i want to tell you, my laptop had been broken three times since i bought it 3 years ago. Fortunately, i had 3 years warranty which did not cost me the money. The motherboard had been replaced twice which cost RM1000 each. Now, alphabet p and certain numbers on my keyboard are not functioning. So, i need to use on-screen keyboard when i want to type those alphabet and numbers. But now, the warranty had finished two weeks ago and i cannot get the free charge of repairing it. I think better i use this laptop until it get blue screen or fully broken down.

I am planning to buy Lenovo ThinkPad Edge one day. It is quite cheap and very durable. You get can it about RM1900 to RM2500. These are its specs:

  • Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
  • Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 (1.3GHz, 800MHz FSB, 3MB Cache)
  • 13.3" 1366 x 768 WXGA Glossy Display
  • Intel X4500M Integrated Graphics
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM (2GB x 2)
  • 320GB Fujitsu 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • Intel 6250AGN+WiMax, Bluetooth 2.0, Gobi 2000 WWAN
  • Built-in web camera
  • 6-cell 11.25v 63Wh Battery
  • Dimensions: (LxWxH) 8.9 x 12.6 x 0.5" - 1.4"
  • Weight: 3lbs 14.4oz
Very smart and reliable....

Radiation emitted by digital devices

Every electronic devices emits some type of radiation, otherwise they would be useless..
Light from computer, TV, cell phone, sound wave from cell phone and radio wave from wireless router emit the radiation.

Do LCD screens emit radiation?

LCD displays generate an image by illuminating a matrix of tiny light. Unlike CRT, an LCD has no tube and no electron spray and generates no X-ray. LCD device do, however, emit low level of radiation depending on manufacturer, brand and model.

Are the current limits of radiation from cell phone safe?

Cell phone emits RF (radio frequency) energy which the high level of RF energy can heat human tissue much like the way a microwave oven heats food. A recent Swedish study found evidence that long-term, extensive cell phone use significantly increases the risk of brain tumor. However, a contradictory study performed by the London-based Institute of Cancer Research and three British universities found that cell phone risk does not increase the incidence of brain tumors in users. For me, there is no conclusion that mobile phone is absolutely safe, so it is unsafe.

How to avoid access cell phone radiation?

Use hand-free headset or its speaker-phone.

When i was in boarding school..

I learned about competitions. My batch SPM 2004 consists of 70 students was the second batch studying in this school. Thus, we all know each other quite well and until know we still contact and meet each other quite frequently as some of friends studying in the same university.

I was not active in co-curriculum. I was not good at outdoor or indoor sport. My legs could not run as fast as flash, my body was not fit to play any sport because my breathing would become fast and i quickly got tired and exhausted.
So i could not compete in sport. On the other hand, i try to compete myself with others in academics. I am not a smart student, but i am hardworking student. I could not remember what the teachers talked about in class, but i do understand after i had a lot of practices. I love chemistry because i love the ways she taught. i love her too huhu... The worst and the weakest subject that I had never achieved A in the tests before SPM was Bahasa Inggeris. For me I could not write a sentence in correct grammars and good vocabularies. I always got C in this subject in every test in before SPM. Thanks to teacher Wahida who was continuously teaching us excellently. Now I try to improve my English by writing my blog in English.

During my school time, i always neglected to talk to the girls. My thought was it is not important to have a talk with girls. I was also very shy on that time. After leaving the primary school, i tried my best to avoid from talking or having a chat to even one girl. huh.. might be i was too shy.. Studying in INTEC, uitm for doing AUSMAT also i very shy to talk to the girls.

After going to oversea, i developed my social skills by being a friend to the girls.. They were so helpful and understandable. I had developed my friendship with others. Even though my studies were going bad, but my friendship was going bigger huhuhu... There are pros and conts when you put friendship more important than study.

But now............. the very important thing, enjoy your study...

Why did I choose UNISEL to continue my degree?

Unisel is one of the private universities in Malaysia which owned by Selangor state government.

Anyone who applies can get enter as long as you passed 3/5 credits in SPM. For me, I did choose Unisel because it is the only one university accepted my application to continue my degree after failing in oversea. But I had been detained for about an hour in a special administration office because of approving my high school certificates. Thanks to UNISEL for giving a second chance in my life to obtain my first degree.

I did my mistake because i did not realize that the application to continue the degree in IPTA had been closed. It was my big mistake. Then, i applied diploma application in IPTA using my SPM result, but the respond was not what i had expected. My application was rejected. Maybe there were too many applications among the spm holders who just finished their secondary schools.
UniKL also rejected my online application. MMU and UNITEN also did not approve my online applications since maybe I have Australia high school certificate and it was not in common. Universiti Petronas i did not apply cause its fees are very expensive among IPTS.

Unisel has good facilities, many capable lecturers and up to date courses. Unisel has make me good in programming, excellent in study and get many friends.

However, wherever you learned, you must be committed and put the strong efforts in your studies. For me, i am not blaming that this university is not good enough or it will be hard to find a job. I do not think like that. If you know who you will be, you can achieve it by efforts and learning your mistakes...

Try to get as many skills required in the industries and companies. For IT students, programming skills are the most important and very high demands in markets.

Lenovo´s IdeaPad U1 hybrid laptop is very fantastic..

    What is a hybrid computer?

It is a digital computer that accepts analog signals, converts them to digital and processes them in digital form. It is used in process control and robotics.

So, Lenovo has created a hybrid laptop which is called IdeaPad U1. It has a detachable screen which you can detach it from the laptop and make it as multitouch slate tablet. Very interesting when you just bring it anywhere to view photos, surf internet, watch videos and play games.

Try to watch its related video below:

But this laptop is expected available from JUNE 2010 with an estimated price is US$999

Ways to ensure Grads get jobs

Based on the NST's article i have read, Higher Education Director-general, Prof Datuk Dr Radin Umar said there are 9 attributes that make grads employable.
    1. Knowledge of profession
    2. Knowledge of competency
    3. Communication skills
    4. Critical thinking and Problem solving
    5. Team skills
    6. Entrepreneurship
    7. Ethics
    8. ICT
    9. A positive outlook of life towards lifelong learning
Have i all the attributes stated above?
Nope, my communication skills are very worst i think.

However, I do have the other attributes in my hand. As the one who take the course of Computer Science, i have to think critically, solve the problem using programming method and work in a team to produce the best result. Of course ICT is in my fingertips. As the technologies keep changing and changing, i am trained to have an attitude of lifelong learning and master the knowledge of my profession and competency. I do plan to open my business based on ICT and become an entrepreneur one day. Good ethics are always in practice in my daily life.

    I am still learning

    Fees In UNISEL

Yesterday, i viewed the Unisel website and the new announcement about the fees just released. The hostel fee increases to RM250/month compared to the fee of the previous semester which is RM200/month. The registration fee also adds RM57.50 to the previous fee.

For me it was a huge amount. It is not reasonable when you pay RM250 per person per month, an apartment has 3 small bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, staying with other 5 people. If you were staying on the forth floor, huh.. it was very terrible and tiring. Better you rent a house out of campus for just RM750 per month living with 6 people inclusive electricity and water bills. But the only problem is the transport. One who not afford to own at least a motorcycle, it is better living in hostel.

I do not mind the registration fee is increased if the management is well organized. If you look to the Unisel website, it is very simple and for me it is not the university standard. The student webmail cannot be used. The student portal also are very simple. The student timetable is updated manually by papers sticked on the information board. It is wasting my time. Unisel does not follow the fully internet based information system. Try to compare to USM, UITM or UTM websites.. they are very interesting and the news and reports about the activities of those universities are keeping up to date. Every student should have one university email and all the information about the university can be sent through email.
What we learn with pleasure we never forget.

    D.U.I.T

Duit is money called in Bahasa Malaysia. In the end of year 2009, i went to shoe repair shop in Bahau, Negri Sembilan to take my brother's shoes after leaving there for a week. When i asked for the shoes, the owner tried to find it out and then he said the shoes had not repaired yet.. huh..
"how come after a week those shoes had not repaired?" asked by me surprisingly.
He said that shoes had been given to his son while my brother sent to the shop and his son is always postpone his work till the last minutes. Thus, i had to wait for about an hour to get it done by him.
While i was waiting for the shoes repaired, i had chatted with him. The most interesting part that i want to tell you is about D.U.I.T. Every single alphabet has its own meaning and is related with each other.
What do you know about D.U.I.T? Are they Doa, usaha, ikhtihar, tawakal?

Base on that owner, DUIT has the meaning of
    Daya (Strength),
    Usaha (Effort),
    Ilmu (Knowledge),
    Tekun (Assiduous).

To get the money, first you must have the strengths either physical or inner strengths. Without the strength you cannot do any work. With the strengths, you should have the efforts. If you only have the strengths but not the efforts, you cannot get the money and it is wasteful. With the strengths and efforts, you must have the knowledge. It is useless if you do not have knowledge. After getting three of them, you should have an assiduous attitude so that you can get the money as much as you want. However:

Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one.
